Snow Patrol

Snow Patrol

Snow Patrol are a Northern Irish band which formed in Dundee, Scotland, with the majority of their members being from Bangor and Belfast, Northern Ireland. They are based in Glasgow and are signed to Polydor Records. Originally formed as an indie rock band, Snow Patrol have sought a more alternative rock and powerpop sound in recent years on the heels of mainstream success with the songs “Run”, “Chasing Cars” and “Signal Fire” from the Spider-Man 3 soundtrack.
Snow Patrol mix an indie rock ethic with space rock sensibilities for an edgy, guitar-oriented pop sound. This Northern Irish act found success while they were students in college in Scotland. Lead singer Gary Lightbody has been influenced by everyone from Eddie Vedder to Sebadoh. Snow Patrol played around the U.K. for years before making waves in the U.S. with their 2004 album “Final Straw.” Lightbody has a side project called the Reindeer Section featuring members of Mogwai and Belle and Sebastian.
The band’s first three records, including their first EP, (Starfighter Pilot, Songs for Polarbears, When It’s All Over We Still Have to Clear Up) were commercially unsuccessful and were released with an independent record label. When the band moved to a major record label Polydor Records they released their album Final Straw which crossed 4x platinum sales in the UK. The band received worldwide success thanks to the album Eyes Open which sold 4.7 million copies worldwide. Snow Patrol has been nominated for 3 BRIT Awards and has won five Meteors. Worldwide, the band has sold over 7 million albums.

Carlin and his “Seven Dirty Words” comedy routine were central to the 1978 U.S. Supreme Court case F.C.C. v.      This Huntington Beach quartet is slathered in punk pop sunscreen and Nintendo-era synthesizers. Their name has less to do with the Beatles than with “Saved By the Bell.” Screech said it on the Hawaii episode. They were featured on MTV’s “The Real World” when the reality series located to Austin, Texas. Singer Forrest Kline did the web design for Drive-Thru Records when he was just 16. Now he’s on (not behind) the label. Hellogoodbye is brave enough to incorporate the musical magic of a glockenspiel into their pop-punk (but just sometimes).
