Jewel Kilcher (born May 23, 1974) is an American singer, songwriter, actress, and poet, generally known just by her first name, Jewel. She has received three Grammy Award nominations and sold over 27 million albums worldwide.
Precocious neo-folkie Jewel has found mainstream popularity with her soulful vocals and sparkling compositions. Jewel once played to a crowd in Detroit who were convinced they were going to see Death Row rapper Jewell. Jewel also writes poetry, and has published a book of her work called “A Night Without Armor.” Jewel won strong reviews for her performance in the little-seen movie “Ride With the Devil.” Jewel used to live in a VW bus and busk on the beaches of San Diego before she got her big break.
She debuted on February 28, 1995 with the album, Pieces of You, which became one of the best selling debut albums of all time, going platinum twelve times.

Vanessa Williams

Vanessa Lynn Williams (born March 18, 1963) is an African American singer-songwriter and actress. Williams made history on September 17, 1983 when she became the first African American woman to be crowned Miss America. Williams’ reign as Miss America came to an abrupt end when scandal led to her subsequent resignation of the title. Williams rebounded by launching a career as an entertainer, earning Grammy, Emmy, and Tony award recognition while perfecting her craft.
Former Miss America turned recording star, Williams enjoyed success as an R&B singer in the late ’80s/early ’90s. Williams won the Miss America pageant in 1983, only to relinquish her crown after Penthouse released revealing pictures. She was the first African-American Miss America. In 1988, Vanessa Williams received a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist. Vanessa Williams starred in the 1996 movie “Eraser” alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger.
