Phil Vassar

Phil Vassar

Phil Vassar is an American country music singer-songwriter and pianist. Vassar made his debut on the American country music scene in the late 1990s, co-writing singles for several country artists, including Tim McGraw (”For a Little While”, “My Next Thirty Years”), Jo Dee Messina (”Bye, Bye”, “I’m Alright”), Collin Raye (”Little Red Rodeo”), and Alan Jackson (”Right on the Money”. In 1999, he was named by ASCAP as Country Songwriter of the Year.
Phil Vassar sings party-friendly country music with a kicked-back drawl and melodies more catchy than a box of fishing lures. Phil Vassar wrote for Tim McGraw, Jo Dee Messina, Colin Raye and Alan Jackson before singing his own saucy country pop songs. Engelbert Humperdinck, lord of the lounge crooners, discovered Phil Vassar singing in a smoky club in Nashville, Tenn. Phil was a frat rat in college. In the 80’s he was a member of the Eta Kappa chapter of Theta Chi Fraternity. Vassar once co-owned a piano bar outside Nashville, Tennessee, where he used to bartend and perform his own material.
Later that same year, Vassar was signed to Arista Nashville as a recording artist. His debut album, Phil Vassar, was released in early 2000; it produced five hit singles on the U.S. Billboard country singles charts and was certified gold in the United States. He followed it in 2002 with American Child, Shaken Not Stirred in 2004, and finally Greatest Hits, Vol. 1 in 2006 before Vassar left the label for Universal South Records. His first album for that label, Prayer of a Common Man, was released in early 2008.

Rascal Flatts

Rascal Flatts music

Rascal Flatts is an American Grammy Award-winning country group founded in Nashville, Tennessee. Since its inception, Rascal Flatts has been composed of three members: Gary LeVox (lead vocals); LeVox’s second cousin, Jay DeMarcus (bass guitar, harmony vocals); and Joe Don Rooney (lead guitar, harmony vocals).
Rascal Flatts mix twangy pedal steel licks with contemporary R&B to create a soulful yet countrified version of a boy band. Some of the members of the harmony-laden Rascal Flatts were once the backing band of a young country diva named Chely Wright. From 2000 to 2007, Rascal Flatts sold well over eight million albums. Rascal Flatts’ third album “Feels Like Today” went platinum in just under one week. Rascal Flatts have performed for the President and First Lady. They have also become spokesmen for the American Red Cross.
Rascal Flatts has released five studio albums and a live compilation to date, all on Lyric Street Records. Their first two albums, 2000’s Rascal Flatts and 2002’s Melt, have been certified 2× platinum and 3× platinum, respectively, in the United States, while 2004’s Feels Like Today and 2006’s Me and My Gang have received 5× platinum and 4× platinum certifications respectively. Still Feels Good, their most recent album, is certified 2× platinum.
