Reba

Reba

Reba Nell McEntire (born March 28, 1955) is a Grammy award-winning and Golden Globe-nominated American country music singer and performer, and actress. Sometimes referred to as The Queen of Country, she is known for her lively stage-shows and pop-tinged ballads. She has issued 31 albums, with over 55 million records sold worldwide in her 33-year career.
McEntire is at the top of the heap when it comes to big-time country pop stars. Her voice swims in Tammy Wynette-esque tones. Her father Clark McEntire was a professional rodeo rider who taught Reba and her sisters how to ride for rodeos. When she was a kid, Reba, her brother and her sisters landed a small hit as a family band with “The Ballad of John McEntire.” She was discovered by Red Steagall after she sang the National Anthem at the National Rodeo Finals in Oklahoma City in 1974. Reba had an acting role in a movie. She played the part of Heather Gummer in the 1990 horror film “Tremors.”
Reba McEntire was the most successful female recording artist in country music in the 1980s and 1990s, during which time she scored 23 number-one hits and released five gold albums, six platinum albums, two double-platinum albums, four triple-platinum albums, a quadruple-platinum album, and a quintuple-platinum album, for certified album sales of 33.5 million over the 20-year period. She expanded her activities as an actress in film, on stage, and particularly on television, where she starred in a situation comedy, Reba, which lasted from 2001 to 2007.

New Kids On The Block

New Kids On The Block

New Kids on the Block is an award-winning American pop group that enjoyed enormous success in the late 1980s and early 1990s. They won two American Music Awards in 1990 for Favourite Pop/Rock Band, Duo, or Group and Favourite Pop/Rock Album for Hangin’ Tough.
NKOTB slayed the hearts of innumerable teenage girls and was the prototype for innumerable ‘NSYNC-alikes. NKOTB also birthed Markie Mark — the underwear model, Funky Bunch head honcho, and lately respected actor. Svengali Maurice Starr envisioned the New Kids as a caucasian answer to his other engineered pop group, New Edition. Donnie Wahlberg was the first member of the group, selected from the group of 500 who auditioned. The Kids’ debut bombed on its release, but later went triple-platinum with the subsequent success of “Hangin’ Tough.”
Assembled in Boston in 1984 by producer Maurice Starr, the members consisted of brothers Jordan and Jonathan Knight, Joey McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg and Danny Wood. The group went on to sell over 70 million albums worldwide[1], generated hundreds of millions of dollars in concert revenues, and paved the way for acts like Backstreet Boys, Take That and *NSYNC. The group broke up in 1994. They reunited in April of 2008, and are now planning a new album and an international concert tour in the fall.
